J2 Metals has secured a pivotal three-year option to acquire the Sierra Plata silver-antimony project in Mexico from Impact Silver.
This significant 2,200-hectare property is situated within the historic and prolific Zacualpan Mining District near Taxco, Guerrero.
Its strategic location is further emphasized by bordering concessions held by mining giant Grupo México and the vendor, Impact Silver, placing J2 in a well-established mineralized corridor.
The Sierra Plata project hosts multiple past-producing silver mines, such as El Salto and El Sabino, and is regarded as highly prospective for both high-grade silver and the critical mineral antimony.
Recognized for its use in flame retardants and military applications, antimony's strategic importance adds considerable value.
Promisingly, known geological structures and mineralized trends from the adjacent historic operations extend directly onto the Sierra Plata claims, providing clear exploration targets for J2 Metals to pursue.
J2 Metals CEO Thomas Lamb cited the project's high prospectivity and the opportunity to advance assets outside of Impact's current production focus as key reasons for the deal. The agreement provides J2 with access to Impact's regional technical expertise and drilling infrastructure.
“Under Mexican mining regulations, certain concessions require regular investment, and Sierra Plata lies outside Impact’s current production focus, creating a compelling opportunity for J2 to advance the project.” Read more...
