Aclara Targets 2028 Commissioning for Carina Rare-Earth Project in Brazil. #FrizeMedia https://buff.ly/uphbSkL

Aclara Resources is advancing its Carina Rare-Earth Project in Brazil’s Goiás state toward a targeted commissioning start in the second half of 2028.

The company has reached a critical regulatory phase, having submitted the environmental impact assessment in May 2025.

Key forthcoming milestones include the anticipated grant of a preliminary license in the first quarter of 2026 and the completion of a definitive feasibility study by the second quarter of the same year, which will solidify the project's engineering and economic framework.

The project, which requires an estimated capital investment of $680.5 million according to a late-2025 pre-feasibility study, is on an accelerated development path.

Site construction is slated to commence in mid-2026, transitioning to full-scale fast-tracked building in 2027. Following the late-2028 commissioning, operations will ramp up throughout 2029. Over its planned 18-year mine life, the Carina Project is designed to produce an average of 4,265 tonnes of total rare earth oxides annually.

Aclara Resources secured full ownership of the project's mining rights in February 2024 after fulfilling an earn-in agreement. The project comprises six mining licenses (exploration permits) covering 9,863.6 hectares, each with a three-year term. Within this perimeter, there are 14 individual landholdings under possessory rights.

The Carina Project holds probable reserves of 165.4 million tonnes, grading 1,723 ppm total rare earth oxides. This includes 336 ppm neodymium-praseodymium, 47 ppm dysprosium, and 7.5 ppm terbium.

The project will be a conventional, year-round open‑pit operation using a load‑and‑haul fleet without the need for drilling or blasting, due to the orebody's friable nature. Read more...
