In a landmark move for Ghana's mining industry, Azumah Resources Ghana Limited has inked a pivotal $37.5 million agreement with Danish engineering giant FLSmidth to equip its Black Volta and Sankofa gold projects. 

Signed at the Accra Marriott Hotel, this partnership is engineered to fast-track the project into full-scale commercial production within 21 months, representing a transformative investment in the Upper West Region. The development is projected to create approximately 1,700 direct jobs, promising a substantial economic uplift for local communities and the region at large.

Central to this ambitious undertaking is a robust commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices, directly countering regional concerns over illegal mining (galamsey) and environmental degradation. 

Noel Addo, Director of Azumah Resources Ghana Limited, emphasized that principles of the green transition are foundational to the company's strategy, ensuring that operations prioritize environmental stewardship and community well-being. This approach aims not only to generate employment but also to establish a new, ethical standard for mining in the area, fostering long-term regional development alongside mineral extraction.

The partnership with FLSmidth secures state-of-the-art equipment intended to minimize environmental impact, framing the project as a model for modern, community-integrated gold exploration in Ghana. This investment marks a decisive step toward harnessing the region's mineral wealth while aiming to deliver tangible job creation and sustainable practices.

Regarding operational advancements, Alistair Mackay, FLSmidth’s Vice President for Capital Sales in Europe, Arabia, and Africa, outlined the technological commitment to the project.
