The Student’s Passport: How to Travel the World on a Budget. #FrizeMedia https://buff.ly/N5SJnzT

The best way to start traveling as a student is to treat planning like a game of maximizing value at every turn.

Before you even choose a destination, mine your student status for every advantage: get an ISIC card, look for youth fares on trains, buses, and museums, and ask your university about travel grants, scholarships, or exchange programs that can cover part of the cost.

When it comes to flights, stay flexible with dates and airports, fly on weekdays, and compare budget airlines, error fares, and overnight buses or trains that double as a night of accommodation.

The more you can bend your itinerary around cheap options rather than forcing cheap options around a fixed plan, the more your budget will stretch.

Timing is the other half of the strategy. If your schedule allows, travel during off-season or shoulder season, when flights and accommodation drop dramatically and popular sights are less crowded.

Choose hostels, guesthouses, or university dorms over hotels, cook some meals instead of eating out every day, and prioritize free walking tours, student-priced museums, and public transit passes.

Traveling slowly and staying in one place longer can also reduce transport costs and help you find local deals.

With a little patience, research, and willingness to be flexible, a student passport can become a ticket to the world without draining your savings. Read more...
