Newmont has achieved commercial production at its Ahafo North mine in Afrisipakrom, Ghana, following the first gold pour on September 19, 2025.
The project, comprising four open-pit mines and a standalone processing mill, marks Newmont’s third mining venture in Ghana and its second active site after divesting the Akyem mine in April 2025.
Located 50 kilometers from the existing Ahafo South operation, Ahafo North is expected to produce 275,000–325,000 ounces of gold annually over its 13-year life, starting with approximately 50,000 ounces in 2025 and reaching full capacity by 2026.
The development has already generated 4,500 construction jobs and will sustain around 1,560 permanent and contracted roles.
