Windows 10 Users Sue for Extended Support.

As Windows 10 approaches its end-of-life date on October 14, 2025, not all users are willing to accept the discontinuation of support, with one individual even resorting to legal action in a bid to keep security updates available.

Once support ends, millions of devices will no longer receive critical security patches, leaving them exposed to potential threats.

Lawrence Klein, a Windows 10 user with two affected laptops, has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft, as reported by Forbes.

Although Microsoft offers Extended Security Updates (ESU) for $30 per device—extending protection for three additional years, the lawsuit contends that these updates should be free, given the vast number of users still dependent on the OS.

The stakes are high, with an estimated 700 million users worldwide impacted by the phase-out, a significant figure considering Microsoft announced the end-of-support timeline back in 2021, months before Windows 11’s release in October of that same year.
